This stretch alleviates tightness and tension in the piriformis muscle - a small muscle located in the buttock behind the gluteus maximus. The stretch can also help to relieve sciatic pain.
Sit up tall with your legs out in front of you. Bend your right leg over your left leg and direct your right heel as close towards you as possible.
Wrap your left arm around your right leg and look over your right shoulder. To increase the stretch, bend your left leg as well.
Hold the stretch for 15-30 seconds then repeat on the other leg.
